World of warships atago torps12/14/2023 ![]() ![]() On the kite, the normal arrangement like on Myoko and Zao are better, but those have zero forward launch angles. This means that Atago can launch torpedoes offensively as well as kiting, but it's not perfectly suited to maximize either. Atago's is arranged to fire in "Quarters." Think of a pie and cut it in equal 4 pieces, that's almost the launch angles of Atago's torps, but no extreme forward / rear angles. Normal IJN CAs like Zao, Myoko have their tubes arranged to ideally launch as they kite. +/- Torpedo Tubes are arranged differently from typical IJN CAs. Again, IJN CAs like to float around that number, so if you've played their Heavy Cruisers, this is nothing new. Gun reload is kind of long at 16 seconds. IMO, this fact alone makes Atago horrible if you like to play in close quarters fighting. I think as a Line, they're the slowest overall in turret traverse. IJN Cruiser turret traverse has always been an annoying issue. Her AA is enough to get a chortle out of a Tier VIII CV player. IJN AA overall sucks balls in the game, as it did in real life, and Atago is no exception. Lots of veteran players specifically look for an IJN Cruiser player to make that mistake. You may very well get deleted if you are detected. A very big temptation with newer Atago players is they get desperate or greedy, and try to turn out an extra broadside to launch all that side's torpedoes. Ideally, launch your torpedoes while undetected, as you do with all the normal IJN CAs. This is a thing that concerns all the IJN CAs, so if one is used to Myoko, Mogami, Zao, etc. Do this while detected and observed by an aware enemy, you're asking to be deleted, one of the greatest sins you can do as an IJN Cruiser. To launch a full side of torpedoes, Atago has to show a flat broadside. You don't have Spotter Aircraft to help in that. For a good number of Tier IX-X BBs, 15km is "gimme" range. ![]() 15.7km gun range is passable for Tier VI-VIII games, but in a Tier X game, it's underwhelming. Granted, Cruisers tend to be prone to getting blapped, but IJN CAs aren't forgiving to position and angling mistakes. IJN CAs are very long Cruisers with just as exposed Citadels. CONS - Let's get the negatives out of the way first. ![]()
